Title:   “The Ersatz Brain Project: Details on some Possible Applications”

James Anderson

Professor of Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences

Abstract:

The Ersatz Brain Project is an attempt to design a suitable computer for the efficient execution of the software now being developed that will display human-like cognitive abilities.  Requirements of the proposed software are primary in shaping our hardware design.

We will review some of the basic assumptions of our approach and discuss a couple of potential applications in a little detail:  (1) Arithmetic operations and their control structures; (2) sensor fusion and (3) some thoughts about big semantic nets.
